About this Opportunity:

As a Senior Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) Specialist, you will play a crucial role in maintaining a safe and compliant workplace. You will be responsible for ensuring that the facility meets all relevant safety and environmental regulations, including MIOSHA, MDEQ, and MDOT standards. 

In this position, you will also coordinate emergency response plans, oversee ISO14001 compliance, and manage hazardous materials and waste disposal. Your expertise will be essential in keeping our operations safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible. 

Responsibilities: 

•    Ensure facility compliance with all MIOSHA, MDEQ, and MDOT regulations.
•    Develop, implement, and maintain safety training programs for supervisors and employees, ensuring proper documentation.
•    Act as the Workers' Compensation liaison, managing cases, and recordkeeping to comply with Michigan State Laws and corporate directives. Maintain OSHA records and EH&S logs accurately and timely.
•    Review and investigate incident reports, ensuring corrective actions are implemented by supervisors. 
•    Serve as the Safety and Ergonomics Coordinator, helping the plant meet company safety objectives.
•    Oversee ISO14001 compliance, coordinating audits and procedures.
•    Manage the plant’s Emergency Action Plan, including training for emergency evacuation and fire prevention.
•    Administer the Hearing Conservation Program.
•    Ensure annual First Aid, CPR, and Bloodborne Pathogen training for all supervisors and managers.
•    Coordinate industrial hygiene studies, communicate results, and address any issues.
•    Prepare and submit required reports on safety, environmental, and Workers' Compensation costs.
•    Act as a liaison with local environmental agencies and ensure compliance with MDEQ-issued permits, including stormwater management.
•    Maintain spill prevention logs, inventory, and ensure proper disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste.
•    Coordinate hazardous material shipments, ensuring proper labeling, loading, and documentation per DOT guidelines.
•    Maintain expertise in EPA, 40 CFR, and 49 CFR regulations, providing training for hazardous waste handlers.
•    Submit required environmental reports, including Sara Title III, Tier II, air permits, and Form R reports to appropriate agencies.
•    Prepare the annual corporate environmental report on resource usage and waste management.

Job Requirements/Qualifications:

•    Bachelor’s degree and/or 4+ years of experience in Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S).
•    Worked in a Plant Environment, preferably automotive.
•    Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
