About this Opportunity: To focus on integrating subsystems and implementing features that protect combat vehicle crews. Development and ongoing support of new and existing designs used for combat vehicle armor and structure.
Responsibilities:
Design and develop armor vehicles and armor plating (metallic/composite) for combat vehicles.
Support and participate in armor subsystem and vehicle-level integration, armor testing and verification activities.
Develop data and create design layouts, sketches, and notes necessary for design changes.
Coordinate with Materials Engineer to ensure proper materials are used.
Provide knowledge of survivability discipline; specifically related to the metals/materials used.
Ability to communicate and determine design factors such as availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, efficiency of metals or materials while maintaining government specifications and requirements.
Participate in the generation and revision of engineering drawings, reports, and procedures.
Represent company or Survivability team at internal meetings or meetings with subcontractors, partners, and customers.
Undertake other duties as determined by the Engineering Director, Survivability Manager or their delegates.
Job Requirements/Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Materials Engineering required with minimum 5 years of experience working in Engineering field
Experience in the design and development of armor vehicles; and/or armor plating.
Ability to work within CAD based design systems.
Ability to present technical solutions to clients and internal stakeholders.
Knowledge of Military Standards, DoD processes and procedures, US Army TACOM / TARDEC organizations.
Hands on knowledge on domain of vehicle survivability technologies and equipment.
Has the ability to obtain US Defense clearance up to SECRET.
Ability to travel up to 25% of the time. Occasional travel to Europe may be required.
